POWERS (CANON)

REGAINING CANON POWERS AND ABILITIES

How Do Regains Work?

They can be earned from the following:

- Prizes from specific events or performances
- Team Ghost Family Events
- Rewards from achievements (TBD, more details coming soon!)

You should have viewed five memories before getting your first power! In the event people get awarded powers and you haven't reached that threshold yet, you can also gain another memory. That way you aren't stuck without a power for a long period of time unless you wish to.

They cannot be insanely overpowered to the point of game-breaking. If you have a power like turning into a giant mech and need an excuse for why it won't work, then it's because you're on Showmaster's ship and sometimes, things just don't work right. 🙁

Additionally, canon restrictions apply, including PG game rules. If you have to do X before you can use your power or there's a limit on it, then it also applies here! If your power is dependent on an outside force (like a god for example), let me know and I'll come up with an alternative so you aren't locked out of using it.

Consider splitting/combining powers. Do you have a bunch of little abilities that would count as one? Maybe split them up! Likewise, combining a bunch of little abilities is also an option! Think of how Blessings work and try to split/combine in roughly the same way if you can.

Canon powers and blessing powers cannot mix for IC reasons. If you use blessings one day, you must have a cooldown before using your canon powers. Ultimately this isn't a hard limit especially depending on thread vibes, or maybe a really great lifetime IC moment, but in general there is a 24 hour cooldown before you can use one or the other.

ICly, this feels like two types of energy inside of you that do not intermingle or touch. It is not painful, but you can tell that if you reach for a blessing, it comes from a different space than canon powers.

However, though you cannot use blessings and canon powers together, you CAN affect them using the other. So if a person is trying to hit you with a canon power fireball, and you have a blessing shield, the shield WILL work.

You can decide if a side effect counts as a power or just an aesthetic change. For example, a lot of negative side effects won't kill you if you treat it as a permanent side effect and not a power to be regained. Hair color changes, hunger to drink blood, illnesses, etc. However, item rule applies here, if the item is not near you, these do not apply to you.

Speaking of items, you must have your item on you to use canon powers. If you do not have it or it's more than five or so feet away, your powers will not work and will in fact feel like they're not there.

If you don't have an item, Ticketmaster will give you one. Items should be small enough to fit in a pocket and be symbolic of SOMETHING in canon. It can be a mini figurine of your weapon, a small book, a feather, etc. It can be larger, but keep in mind that you must carry it on you.

Cabin rules apply. You can affect your own cabin, but you cannot use powers in another cabin unless granted EXPLICIT IC and OOC permission. Also, if it becomes a point that it harms the family, your powers WILL shut off. This is due to the cabin ghosts in the Family room. Ghost rules override all!!

Regains will happen about once a month on average. But I also know some of you have 1000+ powers to choose from too. In these cases, I would recommend prioritizing the major ones you want to receive, and sprinkling in the smaller ones along the way after the big ones are regained. This is not usually a battle heavy game, so keep that in mind!

If you already have your canon power as a blessing, you can swap the blessing into something new at any time you're ready.

But wait, I don't come from a canon with magic/powers/etc!

For characters who have no magical options, you are allowed to extrapolate your canon and MAKE them like powers. For example, say your character is really good at imitating things they learn but it's just a normal skill. This can be applied as a magical ability that allows them to copy any skill temporarily. If you need help with this, please ping Celi!

Alternatively, there will be a list of pre-approved blessings that you can pick from in case you've already used these ICly or don't feel you have anything good enough to represent powers. This is just so characters with no magic canons don't feel left out! This does not automatically apply to you if you have Canon or PG powers, you must regain those first before this becomes an option for you.

THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND BE ADJUSTED AT ANY POINT. If I feel like it's busted or too limited, I'll adjust as necessary.
