He has the ability to read people's minds, but it's not everything. This is specific to people he's close to and/or someone having intense emotions around him.

So he can't read every little passing thought but he can pick up on someone saying, "I want to tell you I love you" or "fuck I shouldn't have said that". And the more emotional it is the more loud it is for him.

OBVIOUSLY, OOCly I will never use this ability without permission and it'll only be used to help with threads! I just think it's an important part of his character and want to keep it in some form.
