He can "pause" any injuries on himself for [length of time up to potato]. When he unpauses, the injury will immediately catch up to him.

So, if he pauses a cut on his hand from bleeding for five minutes, when he unpauses it will still be as though his hand has been bleeding for five minutes. Healing will not work while this is in effect.
