He absolutely still takes physical damage and all of the consequences with that EXCEPT 'oh god that hurts so much i cannot think' basically. It's more like 'i have registered i am in pain but i can work thru it' or 'this should be traumatising me emotionally but i am simply so distanced from my emotions that i can just focus on what matters'.

Doesn't do anything to prevent him from taking actual damage.
