if he writes or draws things out by hand, he can choose at will to make it visible or invisible. so hypothetically he could write a message, turn it into "a blank page" for security, and then turn it back to a normal message later when he needs it.

but if they're in "invisible" mode they're still perceptible by other means, like usual invisible ink (can be seen under blacklight, or by heating up the page)
