THE FAMILIES' ORGANIZATIONS
WHO ARE THE FAMILIES?
In Estoria, the eight families more or less run most of this world in some shape or form. Each family has a deep reach across the world, their influence being felt not just politically, but economically and culturally. Through their organizations, they each influence important sectors that give them some leverage of power. They're big news! Even casual people will at least have heard of the organizations.
But what exactly is the Family Dynamic of the Eight Families?
Families are large groups of people who work together who all follow a certain belief that they believe in. Some of them ARE related! Some of them aren't. Some of them were recruited and some were born and raised. Some of them leave and move to other families. However, for those who are currently part of a Family, it is a part of their lifestyle and identity just as much as a career might be a part of someone. It is common for people in the family to stick with JUST the family simply because everyone relates to one another very well. It is very much a family in that if you end up in trouble, they'll be some of the first ones to get you out of it.
Now, this isn't like a criminal organization where if you betray the family, someone will come over and kill you. Yes, there will be frowns if you choose to leave but normally, and you might shunned by certain folk, but people tend to accept it. To be honest, it's actually easier to leave a family than it is to find a family that will take you in. Some obvious exceptions are things like marriage, people often jump ship to their spouse's family just because it's easier. But for the most part, families don't like taking members from another family simply because they know it takes a lot for people to change their core beliefs. It's hard work.
Are there exceptions to this?
Sure! Sometimes leaving IS bad for the person who left. But no one hears about those exceptions so I can't tell you about those stories quite yet.
Why do families want to recruit amnesiacs so bad?
It is common knowledge that amnesiacs are usually "blessed". The common theory is that they were so blessed, their memories had to essentially 'uninstall' from the brain to make room for the blessings they received. This is just a rumor and there isn't anything to back it up, but there is a strong correlation between amnesiacs and the Blessed. You can find more info on that here.
Are there people who aren't part of the Families?
Yes! These people are normal individuals who live pretty ordinary lives. Just because you're not part of a family doesn't mean you're ostracized from society. In fact, there are plenty of people in families who used to be regular normies outside of the social dynamics of the family.
What is the family hierachy?
You have the Seniors, the Guardians, and the Children. Elders are not all of the old people. Elders are simply those who are deeply involved in the Family workings, dedicating a good portion of their time to their craft and to further their Organization's power. They have the strongest influence and are taken seriously within their field.
The Guardians are well known for taking care of new recruits, they might not have the same worldly influence as the Seniors, but they often work directly with the Children and are considered 'teachers' of a sort.
Children are usually newer members or amnesiacs, those still trying to find their place. This doesn't mean they aren't good at what they do, some choose to remain in this field because they don't care to be teachers or influencers. If they aren't newer members, they simply wish to partake in the family and fulfill their own goals. These members tend to be more individualistic members.
There are no leaders in any of the families, and this is well known.

WHAT ARE THE ORGANIZATIONS?
Organizations are the way that families achieve their goals and desires. Every family has a general belief or moral compass that they follow, whether it is life or creation or whatever else it might be. Not all family members directly work with the family Organization, but every member of the Organization is part of their family. That is why you'll see people use the family name and the organization name interchangeably.
