BLESSINGS (POWERS/ABILITIES) SUBMISSION

Good day!! I'll explain the process of how choosing powers will go, it's really easy, I promise.

• Make sure to read the blessings page. It explains the general principles on how this worlds' "magic" applies.

• In this post, make a top level for your character! You can submit your abilities underneath that toplevel. You do not need to make it overcomplicated if you don't want to! If you want fireballs, just putting down "fireballs" is fine. In fact, PLEASE don't make it overly complicated. Adding limitations and details can be great, especially to give extra flavor, ut if I must sit through eight paragraphs for one ability detailing the formulaic speed of light, I might perish (and more than likely simplify it for you)!

You can choose up to three abilities!

You do not have to choose them all right now nor do you need to have them immediately by game start. If you want to drop just one ability now and come back later with the others, that's fine. Characters can develop powers over time!

• Once you comment, I will reply back to your comment, making any specific changes necessary, usually to have them thematically connected whether its to your character's family or to help tie them together so they feel connected to the character.

• I'll also do any balancing if necessary. If it's way too strong, I'll help you scale it down or if it's too simple, I'll add a little more to give you more flavor. Powers should be level 30 on a level 100 scale but you can have stronger powers if you add limitations to it. "Can teleport anywhere but only once a day" or "has supergenius level knowledge but only in regards to cacti".

Announcement as of Sept. 24th: We do ask from this point on, any blessings submitted should be around 200-250 words per blessing, If it gets much larger than that, we reserve the right to reject them and ask to shorten it, SIMPLY PUT, IF IT GETS TOO BIG, WE GET SLOW CUZ WE OVERTHINK TOO MUCH, THIS IS TO HELP US STREAMLINE THE PROCESS A BIT. like obv there are some exceptions (like if you're indecisive between two types of limits or something and describing both) but an ability itself should remain about 2-3 paragraphs or so.


I am going to be honest, I do not have a degree in power and magic balancing. I will like make mistakes! If you find an ability way too limiting, you can come and make that case to me, and I can see if I can adjust it! Does one of your abilities never come up in play or you find it's one you don't find fun to play with? Feel free to come back to your toplevel and ask for an addendum, we can make it work.

The important part is I want people to have powers extend from their character as part of their personality/identity. It's not suppose to be about winning/losing/who is the strongest, etc, and hopefully by letting characters pick their own isntead of from a pre-selected list, it will help to do that!

And so with that siad, I am trusting people to be reasonable if these powers come into play at any time. By that, I mean, if you find yourself in a fight with a character, using powers, don't steamroll the other player without striking a conversation. Be considerate of the other person. Remember, it's important to go with the flow of the fight and see what feels right!

Your character does not need to win all of the time! Your character is not automatically better than anyone else 100% of the time. If you get into an ooc confrontation over who should win when it comes to powers, you must diceroll. I do not care if you have a five paragraph essay as to why your character should win, if the other rper is contesting that for whatever reason, make it fair and do a diceroll! Easy peasy! That said, diceroll is NOT a requirement all the time, it's fair to just see what happens! This is only a requirement if there is an ooc disagreement, if you ask me to settle it for you, I'm going to say "do a diceroll" first and go from there.

I GENUINELY DON'T THINK THIS WILL BE A HUGE ISSUE, my friends are chill and cool, but I am notating this just in case because we know sometimes things get crazy, emotions and excitement can get high, so this is the great neutralizer in those instances, ok? Ok.

Will this power I want be allowed?
COMMENT AND FIND OUT. Even if you feel its too insane, go ahead and comment, idc.

This power feels like it wouldn't go with this family.
THATS FINE, COMMENT AND FIND OUT. Even if I lack the brainpower to make it work, it's fine. Just like fashion and personalities, not everything has to be 1 to 1 with the family theme.

Can powers evolve over time?
SURE. It is not unreasonable to have a character's power being "vine whip" evolving into "thorny vine whip".

I just don't think I should bother putting the power in...

forge weapons out of the weather. all have one special special ability/trait (example: wind blades are invisible, thunder axe has a random lightning bolt or something, ash arrows break up on impact and can get in your lungs, etc.

I'll resubmit actual weapons for approval as I think of them if it's ok and needed. Was also just thinking I would lay it out every time one's made and ok it and add it then. )

    - if no game or solo/alone, he can forge a new weather weapon every time the previous one is dismissed/broken. these don't have passive abilities, they are elemental but solid.
    - in games only: can forge up to a max of eight simultaneously. (or seven if that becomes the max amount of members per team. basically can simultaneously forge one for every team member during games only. )

    current (or if not all needed, multiple suggestions for) limitations

    - if forging for team, each weapon has a fifteen minute limit before it falls apart. CD is 45 minutes after 8 are made at once. Can only be used 3(?) times in one game session.

    - weapons can only be used by cirrus network members, will injure or otherwise not work for other teams' (ex: if a non-cirrus individual tries to use one of his fire swords because it's lying around, it'll burn them. ) this can be negated by other teams by abilities that are applicable (example: if there is a stone axe it can't be lifted by anyone but cirrus team member. If someone specifically has super strength that allows them to lift a car, then they could use it/etc.). since powers are weak, these are easier to overcome. some teams may have people that can resist the effect and use the weapon even if they suffer the consequences (ex: fire sword will burn a person's hand, but if they pain tolerance that they can somehow do this, it's possible they could wield it even though it'll keep injuring them.)

    - every time a weapon is forged, it should be of Childe's choice. Since it needs to be limited down to 30% this is a 50/50 chance. in games, need to do 1 dice roll:
      * 1 is if weapon can be chosen (yes/no)
      ** if no, roll dice for weather/element
    - any special abilities to a weapon that are a disadvantage to the other teams will also be a disadvantage to cirrus members. (Example1: wind blades are mostly invisible but if they get knocked out of hands, rip trying to find them and not stab self. Example2: You can get struck by the random lightning bolt with a thunder axe.)

    - can be broken.

    - weapon passive ability related to the weather is unstable depending on what it does (ex: lightning axe might only do one lightning bolt the entire time it exists, and hit a mailbox instead of the target.)

THIS IS A LITTLE TOO COMPLICATED SO I WILL HAVE TO SIMPLIFY THIS DOWN A BIT.

For weapon summon types, I've been telling them they can have 3-5 limited so same for him!! Each weapon can have a special weather based effect, that part is fine!

There needs to be some kind of requirement to forge/change the weapon inventory obviously and I have two suggestions.

One, you can say that he can change the weapon as long as it reflects the current weather at the time/the weather is changing outside.

Or two, always rng a list of weapons and a list of abilities (and I recommend some weapons include funny things like nail files) but he can only forge one weapon a day that can replace his current inventory list (so he cant just roll through and bruteforce the weapon he wants and defeat the rng aspect by forging a hundred times). If you have another idea, feel free to suggest something else!!

For now, weapons should be limited to him only, but it does mean no one can use those weapons against him also.

Also they don't need to be easy to break since there's only 3-5 in the inventory, maybe if its a really strong attack it can break, but otherwise its fine for them to be hefty and sturdy! LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS FINE OR IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER REQUEST.

This is great!! Thank you for suffering through my complications.

Is it possible to use either/or requirement (like they are both requirements but only one has to be met?). Both options seem fun.

The weather in the calendar seems pretty consistent, is that something that might get wild in events or whatnot? If I went this route does it mean he could change to a variety of potential weapons that match the weather to swap out? And is this also once per day forge or he can do it as long as it reflective of the weather?

If I can only pick one I'm leaning towards option two because more shenanigans fun.

Just wanna check
1. Weapon inventory is what he currently has access to/can switch between without penalty or requirement, yes? if so, does that mean I give him 3-5 weapons initially and he always has these from now on so the condition of forging once per day always applies? Or will the weapons "disappear" from inventory when the blessing is not activated and he needs to initially make them again one by one next time ?

OK, TO MAKE IT SOMEWHAT EASIER, we'll nix the daily limit, forging once per day rule etc, see if this streamlines it a bit:

Weather weapon:
- He has a personal inventory in which he can store 3-5 weapons that were created based on the weather at the time (no daily time limit, they can be stored indefinitely until they are used)
- Once a weapon is pulled out/used, they are cleared from that inventory and cannot be used again
- Weapon lasts like 10m tops
- Weapon-to-weather type is consistent (sunny is always a sword, etc)
- He can forge/replace his slots based on the current weather only, one per weather type in a day (if it's rainy, then becomes sunny in the same day, he can forge 2 weapons total then)
- Must actually be weather (cannot be water from the pool, 'night' is not a weather, a rainbow is not weather)
(Some suggestions: Frosty/Snowy, Rainy, Hailing, Windy, Cloudy, Sunny, Foggy)

THAT SAID, if the weather gets too consistent, we can either probably allow for an rng weapon somewhere, but also it's not unreasonable to be like "well even if its sunny, theres some wind as well".

BUT I'LL ACTUALLY TRY TO ADD SOME FUN WEATHER THINGS TO POSTS AS A REFERENCE ANYWAY.

I do have another question, just as I'm trying to put weapon ideas together. If there is rarer/more powerful weather than the generic weather types, might he be able to do something special to the weapon in that weather condition even if he can't store it potentially? Basically I assume strong weather events like hurricanes won't be very common weather (but rain and even maybe thunderstorms would be), so wondering if there might be potential for fun stuff if that weather phenomena show up. I would mostly only be interested for in in PC vs environment situations, like maybe if you can let a buncha sea monsters run wild attacking the ship periodically IDK... I assume it would be case by case basis regardless, just wondering if it might be possible so I can have ideas on hand hoho.

My other question is do sandstorms and firestorms count? They are absolutely weather by definition in real life, and I dunno if you'll ever even have any happen in the game, but because both are made of stuff that isn't originally made in the atmosphere I wanted to make sure c:

Dead space, stagnant space, no energy space where all blessings are nullified (except for dunkelflaute.) Not sure the best way to make this work, but like the idea if possible. Basically want it to be used defensively most of the time, or to diffuse certain scenarios (with okay of all parties.)

SORRY I AM RAMBLING A BIT IDEAWISE BELOW....

I like the second one, but also I don't really need to nullify blessings necessarily after I thought more about it, especially now if someone else is doing it!

What I want, if possible, is for the blessing to create an area to recreate the effects felt in an anechoic chamber. If you aren't familiar with those, the effects are that it is so quiet in the chamber, you can hear your own blood flowing through your veins, your own bones creak, you'll eventually have trouble keeping balance because without the echoes you lose spatial awareness , get really unnerved, etc. and you can only end up staying in so long before you can't take it anymore and need to get outta there.

I just felt like because these are all natural things that are happening that any defense or attack or traditional kinds of protection blessings would be able to shrug it off too easily since the effects aren't actual err... "magic." I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly haha.

If you think we can work a way to do the chamber effect that's neato and could provide some funsies to play with, I would much rather do this than nullify the blessings specifically. I feel like if he can create this effect in a creative way, it can easily be used "defensively" in situations technically. I'm also okay with like some crazy super restriction on it and scenario adjustments where it can only be used in certain situations or something rather than a blessing that can be used frequently and such.

Basically I think it's a really cool concept and I felt it could be a really cool power in certain crazy situations that might just make the event or scenario amplified in some crazy fun way for everyone or etc. The idea of a small zone where echoes cease with no sound and that your own body's simple vital functions can drive you crazy and makes you feel unnerved rather than the blessing creating magic hallucinations or illusions seemed like it might be fun and unusual with a lot of potential. but if it's too complicated I totally understand (I think I make it sound more complicated than it is because I'm worried about sounding like I want some crazy OP thing to beat the snot out of things that must be beaten properly on the ship! Not the case, though, and Childe isn't going to use defense anyway, you and I both know how he is about defense. I'm definitely more interested in how can I make this blessing fun for story/drama and situations with him and other characters etc. than "I need to use this to be combat overpowered/give my character an actual battlefield shield from attacks and stuff."

If that's possible anyway! I'm not sure if it is since I have only played in one ecats game ahhaha. forgive me!! if it can't work i'm happy with the second option you provided so long as the other person isn't using it the same way. If they are similar I will just ask if it's okay if I go back to the drawing board for this power.

I THINK I GOT A BETTER IDEA OF IT, I do think it should be just one for now so either:

This ability is targeted at a single person OR is a trap set on the ground that gets triggered when stepped on.

For this power, this will act more like a cool status effect that is the anechoic chamber effect. The actual chamber length is probably 1-5 minutes (short because without any senses, it probably feels a lot longer in person), but the aftereffects linger for a while. The status effect can be cleansed off with other blessings (any calming blessings and such, maybe nightmare eating, etc), but otherwise, it'll take IC time to recover (up to character willpower on how quick).

Maybe 30 min-1 hr cooldown? Since the chamber effect is already limited to one per person anyway, LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKS.

Snow Eater

Utility: (I tried to base all three powers off weather terms in some way, and snow eater is a warm wind that blows across the snow and can basically rapidly melt a lot of snow or "strip" it from the top) in a very short time.

- thinking maybe a dispel/cleanse of status effect of some sort for Cirrus members. basically 'strips' it off.
- something for non-cirrus members. Maybe thinking selective persuasion that if successful alters active memories/facts temporarily (would dice roll for success, then give player options of which info to strip/rewrite.) can be actively reversed.


Current limitations/specifics:
- can only be used on one individual at a time.
- in game settings, may be only used in one form for the entirety of the game (so if he decides to use on cirrus members, he can't use it on non-cirrus members).
